HOW MY WOODEN JEWELLERY IS MADE

All my colourful jewellery is made by me, here in my studio in Truro, Cornwall. When I'm working on new pieces I usually start with a colour palette based on images of places or things I have seen out and about. Most of my designs start on paper, mixing and matching colour swatches and coming up with patterns for my beads. Every piece is hand painted, with each wooden bead having at up to three coats of paint to give them a super smooth flat colour, and then having pattern or decoration applied. They are then varnished for protection, usually with a matte varnish as this really lets the colours pop! Finally fixings and cords are added before they are ready to be sent out to their new homes.
